I have been playing music for a number of years. This page is dedicated to my musical journey.
My first rock band as call Test Monkey. We wrote original music. It was a rap rock style. We wrote a handful of really cool tunes but never made it past a couple of shows. The singer and guitar player didn’t get along and then, one day, drummer disappeared. The guitar player and myself decided to find another band. This was alot of fun but more of a learning experience.
My next rock band was Steady Grind. We played everything that was cool in the 80s from Ozzy, Van Halen, Crue, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Black Foot, Black Crowes and some other new modern rock. It was a pretty broad spectrum of music. We also wrote original music and recorded a live cd during one weekend in Austin. Our sound was more of a southern rock with a bit more bite. I still remain friends and keep in contact with the guys from Steady Grind. They are all great guys and musicians but as your evolve as a musician, goals and desires change. We had alot of fun playing shows and recording original music. Most of the guys were at different points in their lives, so the push to do larger shows was not as strong as it was for me. After a little over 2 years, it was time for me to stretch my wings and achieve something bigger. Playing covers is alot of fun but there is nothing like writing and playing your own music. This has always been my driving force.
My next rock band was Adrenaline. I had a strong desire to play a certain format of music. At the time, every cover band was playing a “variety”. We wanted to play new alternative rock and northing else. I also wanted to bring the big rock show, with lights, smoke and stage design to the local venues. I wanted the image to be like a national band but at the club level….just starting out. When we first started, many venue owners and booking agents, told us, we would not be successful. They told us that people wanted more of a variety. My thought process was this…..no one was doing what we wanted to do. We decided to to risk it and it quickly because a huge success. Shortly after we shot to the top, all the veteran bands were losing the weekend slots. Many bands start copying our songs and even the order. I would constantly produce super cool graphical flyers and artwork, merch and then started to write original music. The journey and the hard work is the exciting part! As other bands copied us, we keep evolving. Even though we had achieved a higher level of success, as a cover band, than Steady Grind, the desire to write original was not nearly as great. Over a number of years the original music “flame” totally died in Adrenaline and we only played cover music. Even though we played some of the best and biggest shows, I needed something more….the need to write music. After 5 years with Adrenaline, I started to write music on my own and search out for other musicians that would share that same desire and passion. It did not take me very long.
On the 6th year, with Adrenaline, I knew it would be my last year. I was ready to move on with my original music and the new creative energy I had found with MindSet Ultra. I shared many of great moments and not so great times with Adrenaline. That is part of the brotherhood of a band. If you have been on tour with a band you know the fun and dram that follows a successful band. I was always there to play music and perform. It is something that I cannot turn off and it has always been that way.
Currently, I am writing and recording music with MindSet Ultra. The creative energy is great and the music is flowing out……non stop. For the first time, we all feel that we have found what we have all been searching for. I intend to put all my creative and musical energy into MindSet Ultra. It’s time to take it to the highest national level. Music is what thoughts sounds like. Let’s make that connection.
